ServiceNow Developer at Lightspeed - Remote Ontario — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role at Lightspeed is based in Ontario, Canada and while it advertises a "flexible work environment" and remote work policies, the compensation note explicitly states it is for candidates hired to work within Ontario. This means you must be legally authorized to work in Canada and physically based in Ontario — full location-independent nomadic work is unlikely to be feasible here.
Timezone considerations: If remote work within Ontario is permitted, you'd be operating in the Eastern Time (ET) zone. Synchronous collaboration with IT and business stakeholders is implied by the role's nature, making strict async work unlikely.
Visa note: Canada does not currently offer a dedicated digital nomad visa. To legally take this role, you'd need a valid Canadian work permit (e.g., through Express Entry, an employer-sponsored work permit, or existing PR/citizenship). Tourists cannot legally work remotely for Canadian employers while on a visitor visa.
Salary context: At $85,000–$105,000 CAD (~$62K–$77K USD), this is a solid mid-range tech salary for Ontario. However, it doesn't offer the geo-arbitrage advantage nomads typically seek — cost of living in Toronto runs significantly higher than in Lisbon, Bangkok, or Medellín.
- Lisbon: Monthly costs ~$1,800–$2,500 USD — but you'd need to be Canada-based for this role
- Bangkok / Medellín: Similarly cost-effective, but irrelevant if Ontario residency is required
If you're a nomad seeking a ServiceNow role with true location flexibility, look for postings explicitly hiring globally or across multiple time zones.
