Senior Sales Engineer at Zscaler - Remote NC — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is tagged #LI-remote, suggesting remote work is an option despite being listed as North Carolina-based. However, as a Senior Sales Engineer on the South Majors field sales team, the reality involves significant customer-facing activity — on-site presentations, Proof of Value engagements, and enterprise sales cycles. Expect regular travel within the Southeast US territory, which limits classic nomadic flexibility.
Timezone constraints are real: customer meetings will align to Eastern or Central US business hours, making significant timezone offsets (e.g., Southeast Asia or Eastern Europe) impractical without schedule disruption.
Salary context for nomads: At $154K–$221K USD annually, this compensation is exceptional by global standards:
- Lisbon, Portugal: Monthly cost of living ~$2,000–$2,800; this salary affords a very comfortable lifestyle, but Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa requires proving remote employment — a field sales role with US territory travel may not qualify cleanly.
- Bangkok, Thailand: Cost of living ~$1,200–$1,800/month; salary stretches extremely far, but the sales travel requirement makes long-term Thailand residency difficult.
- Medellín, Colombia: ~$1,000–$1,600/month; highly affordable, but Colombia is in a compatible timezone (ET-friendly), making this the most viable nomad base if remote days are approved.
Bottom line: this is not a classic async nomad role. Look for pure technical or product roles at Zscaler if location independence is your priority.
