Senior Sales Engineer at Zscaler - Remote Florida — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is tagged #LI-remote, suggesting remote work is permitted, though it is explicitly based in Florida and tied to a regional South Majors territory. In practice, this is a field sales engineering role requiring regular customer-facing engagement, so expect frequent travel within the Florida/Southeast US region rather than true location independence.
Timezone constraints: Customer meetings and Proof of Value engagements will be anchored to US Eastern Time (ET). Async work is unlikely to be a primary mode given the consultative, real-time sales cycle nature of the role.
Visa considerations: The role is restricted to US locations per the salary disclosure. Non-US citizens would need valid work authorization (H-1B, O-1, green card, etc.). Digital nomad visas in other countries would not apply here.
Salary vs. nomad cost of living: The $154K–$221K base is generous, but the role's regional territory requirement limits true nomadism. For context:
- Lisbon: ~$2,500/mo comfortable living — this salary would go very far, but you'd need to maintain a US presence for the job.
- Bangkok: ~$1,500/mo — similarly affordable, but incompatible with required Florida-based customer visits.
- Medellín: ~$1,800/mo — again, attractive financially but not viable given regional travel demands.
If you're a nomad, look for Zscaler roles explicitly listed as fully remote with no regional territory, or seek pure-remote SE roles at cloud-native security vendors with global accounts.
