Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First with a "Work from Anywhere" Perk

This role is explicitly remote-first and Mexico-based, so you'll need to be legally authorized to work in Mexico. That said, Envato offers a standout "Work from Anywhere" benefit allowing up to 3 months per calendar year in another location — a real win for digital nomads who want to explore other countries while keeping their main base in Mexico.

Schedule & Async Considerations

The job description emphasizes productivity targets and turnaround expectations, which suggests some structured cadence rather than fully async freedom. However, as a review role (not a customer-facing support role), the work is largely self-directed and task-based — making it reasonably compatible with flexible daily scheduling within a Mexico timezone (CST/CDT, UTC-6/UTC-5).

Travel-Relevant Perks

  • Work from Anywhere: 3 months/year to work abroad — ideal for shorter nomadic stints in destinations like Medellín, Lisbon, or Chiang Mai.
  • Conoce Mexico benefit: A funded travel perk to explore Mexico itself — great for those who want to experience cities like Oaxaca, Mérida, or San Cristóbal de las Casas.
  • Connection Budget: Annual funds for in-person team meetups — potential international travel included.
  • Home Office Allowance: Helps set up a reliable remote workspace, including coworking if desired.

While no salary is disclosed, Mexico-based tech roles at global companies typically offer competitive local rates. Mexico City's cost of living remains significantly lower than comparable nomad hubs like Lisbon or Bangkok, making this role potentially strong in terms of purchasing power.

This role plays a critical part in protecting customer trust, supporting contributor quality, improving review consistency, and helping Envato maintain a high-quality marketplace experience across its web, theme, template, and code categories.

  • Apply review criteria consistently across all asset types — including design quality, code quality, functionality, responsiveness, browser compatibility, accessibility, performance, security, dependency management, documentation, installation and setup experience, originality, and commercial value — while adapting standards to the specific expectations of each category.
  • Identify and reject submissions that do not meet marketplace standards, including those with poor code quality, broken functionality, inadequate documentation, security concerns, excessive dependencies, low originality, poor usability, intellectual property risks, or limited commercial value.
  • Provide clear, objective, and constructive review outcomes aligned with established review guidelines.

Risk Management & Escalation

  • Identify complex, ambiguous, or high-risk submissions and escalate them to the appropriate stakeholders for further review.
  • Recognize emerging category risks, contributor patterns, and quality concerns that may impact marketplace standards or customer trust.

Standards, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Support calibration activities to ensure consistency and alignment of review standards across the Code Review team.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of review documentation, category standards, technical benchmarks, and reviewer enablement materials.
  • Identify recurring contributor issues, operational bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve review quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Stay current with modern web development practices, WordPress, JavaScript frameworks, UI/UX trends, plugin ecosystems, marketplace expectations, and AI-assisted development trends.

Team Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Partner with Content Operations leaders to support the evolution of the review function, including the transition from a larger contractor model to a smaller, highly skilled, cross-functional Mexico-based review team.
  • Maintain productivity and turnaround expectations while ensuring quality, consistency, and customer trust are not compromised.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in code and web template review, supporting team knowledge sharing, reviewer development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
