Abbott Sr. Sales Rep Neuromodulation - Remote Spain — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as "Remote" on the Spain territory, which might initially appeal to location-independent workers — but the reality is quite different from a classic digital nomad position.
The job requires 50% travel (and possibly more than 40% as stated in the qualifications), with regular presence in operating rooms, cath labs, ICUs, and at customer hospital sites across Spain. This is fundamentally a field sales and clinical support role, not a desk-based remote job. You must physically be present with physicians, patients, and clinical staff.
- Location flexibility: Very limited. You must be Spain-based and regularly visit medical facilities across your assigned territory.
- Timezone constraints: Standard Spanish business hours apply; hospital schedules are fixed and non-negotiable.
- Visa considerations: This role requires an EU work permit or Spanish work authorization. Non-EU nationals would need a long-term Spanish work visa — digital nomad visas would not be appropriate here.
- Travel perks: Expense reporting and travel planning are built into the role, suggesting travel costs are reimbursed — but this is business travel, not leisure.
If you are a digital nomad seeking genuine location flexibility, this role is not a fit. Look instead for roles labeled async-first, fully remote, with no client-facing or clinical site visits in medical devices (e.g., remote medical writing, regulatory affairs, or tele-health roles).
