Remote Sales Engineer at Harness - Seattle, WA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is labeled remote but anchored to the Seattle, WA area — making it unsuitable for full-time location-independent nomads. The position explicitly requires the ability to travel throughout a sales territory on short notice, attend field events (conferences, seminars), and meet customers in person. This means a consistent U.S. home base in the Pacific Northwest is genuinely required.
Timezone constraints: While daily hours aren't spelled out, the customer-facing, territory-based nature of the role strongly implies Pacific Time alignment and responsiveness during standard U.S. business hours. Async flexibility is minimal for a role built around live demos and real-time technical engagements.
Visa considerations: U.S. work authorization is explicitly required, so digital nomad visas or tourist-basis remote work are not applicable here. This role is only open to those legally eligible to work in the United States.
Salary vs. nomad destinations: At $220K–$290K OTE, this is a high-earning role. For context, a comfortable Lisbon lifestyle runs ~$2,500/month, Bangkok ~$1,800/month, and Medellín ~$1,500/month — but since U.S. residency is required, these comparisons are largely academic for this posting.
Bottom line: If you're a nomad seeking location flexibility, this role is not a fit. Look instead for Harness's fully distributed engineering or product roles, or Sales Engineer positions at companies explicitly open to EMEA/APAC-based remote candidates.
