Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First with EMEA Coverage — Socket is explicitly remote-first, which is excellent news for location-independent professionals. However, this role requires serving European enterprise accounts, meaning you'll need to be reliably available during EMEA business hours (roughly GMT to GMT+3). Client-facing demos, QBRs, and renewal calls tie you to European daytime slots, making deep-Asia or Americas-based nomadding impractical without serious schedule compromise.

Best-fit nomad bases for this role:

  • Lisbon, Portugal — GMT/WET timezone, strong digital nomad visa (D8), cost of living ~€2,000–2,800/month for comfortable living. Perfect EMEA alignment.
  • Barcelona, Spain — CET timezone, Spain's Digital Nomad Visa available, vibrant tech scene, ~€2,500–3,500/month.
  • Tallinn, Estonia — EET timezone, EU Digital Nomad Visa pioneer, lower costs ~€1,800–2,500/month, strong startup culture.

Visa considerations: As this is a full-time employed role at a US-based company, EU digital nomad visas (Portugal D8, Spain DNV, Estonia e-Residency) are well-suited. UK workers can leverage standard PAYE arrangements. Most EU countries allow 90-day stays under Schengen for non-EU passport holders before a visa is needed.

Travel perks: Quarterly team off-sites are a standout benefit — expect paid company travel multiple times per year, which suits nomads who value structured team touchpoints between independent travel periods.
