Shunter Job at Stobart Northampton - UK Logistics Role — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is not suitable for digital nomads or remote workers. The Shunter position at Stobart's Northampton, Swan Valley depot is an entirely on-site, physical role requiring the operation of HGV trailer units within and between depots. There is no remote, hybrid, or location-flexible component whatsoever.
The shift pattern of 4 on / 4 off, 06:00–18:00 means fixed 12-hour day shifts with four consecutive days off — while this offers extended off-time blocks, you must be physically present in Northampton, England on every working day.
Key factors that make this incompatible with a nomadic lifestyle:
- Requires a UK Full C+E (Class 1 HGV) driving licence — not transferable internationally.
- Fixed depot location in Northampton — no flexibility to work from another country or city.
- Requires constant on-site presence for vehicle safety checks and radio communication.
If you're looking for transport and logistics roles with more flexibility, consider exploring remote logistics coordinator, freight broker, or supply chain analyst roles instead, which can often be performed remotely. This role is best suited to a UK-based professional seeking stable, well-paid physical employment.
Stobart (Part of the Culina Group) is a leading ambient transport and logistics business, providing services to many of the UK's best known brands across core consumer and retail sectors.
