Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is not suitable for digital nomads or location-independent remote workers. It is a field-based, hands-on engineering position requiring daily physical presence at construction sites across Bedfordshire and the surrounding regional patch. There is no remote or async component whatsoever — the work involves physically servicing, repairing, and inspecting heavy construction plant machinery on live sites.

The schedule is fixed: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm UK time, and a full UK driving licence is mandatory. Candidates must be UK-based with the legal right to work in the UK.

While the role is described as "home-based" in terms of departing from your home each day, this refers to a mobile field technician arrangement — not a work-from-home setup. You will travel between multiple sites in a company-provided van.

If you are a skilled plant fitter looking to settle in the UK, this role offers strong earning potential (up to £55,000) and genuine stability with a growing civil engineering contractor. For nomads or remote-first professionals, this role is not a fit — look instead for roles in remote technical support, CAD design, or project management within the construction sector, which increasingly offer hybrid or fully remote options.
