Justice Officer Grounds & Services - Geelong AU — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is not suitable for digital nomads or remote workers. As a Justice Officer, Grounds and Services, the position requires a full-time, on-site physical presence at a prison facility in or near Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Daily tasks such as grounds maintenance, operating delivery vehicles, managing laundry and stores, and supporting meals services are entirely location-dependent and cannot be performed remotely.
There are no flexible or async work arrangements mentioned. The role operates on fixed schedules within a secure correctional environment, which also involves security clearances and police checks — making it unsuitable for short-stay visa holders or transient workers.
Visa considerations: Applicants must hold a current Victorian driver's licence, implying permanent residency or Australian citizenship is effectively required for this government justice department role. Working holiday or tourist visas would not be appropriate here.
If you are a traveler or digital nomad seeking location-independent work in Australia, consider looking for roles in software development, content creation, customer support, or digital marketing instead, which are far more compatible with remote or nomadic lifestyles.
