Remote Corporate Relations Specialist - Nonprofit US/CA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is fully remote but restricted to candidates based in the United States or Canada, which significantly limits location flexibility for nomads. You cannot legally hold this position while residing in, say, Lisbon or Bangkok — THL uses an Employer of Record model for non-US staff, and this posting is explicitly US/Canada only.
Schedule flexibility is moderate. The core expectation is a standard 9am–5pm window in your local timezone, with occasional hours outside that range for global team collaboration. This is not a fully async role — corporate outreach involves scheduled calls and meetings with stakeholders in US business hours, so time zone discipline matters.
Travel is required: 2+ domestic and international trips per year, each lasting 2–4 nights. This is a built-in travel perk for those who enjoy it, though it's modest in volume.
- Salary context: At $63K–$77K USD annually, you'd live comfortably in most US cities, but this is a US/Canada residency requirement, so nomad cost-of-living arbitrage doesn't apply here.
- Perks relevant to remote workers: Internet allowance helps offset home office costs; unlimited PTO and monthly "Mend Your Heart Fridays" add genuine flexibility within US/Canada residency.
- Temporary contract: 12-month term with possible permanent conversion — ideal for someone testing a nonprofit career path without a long-term commitment.
If you're a nomad seeking true location independence, this role is not suitable. Look for roles explicitly open to global applicants or those with no timezone restrictions.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY
As the Temporary Corporate Relations Specialist, you will play an important role in supporting The Humane League's efforts to engage with corporations and advance protections for animals in the food supply chain. You are motivated to make a difference in the lives of animals and have the passion to encourage corporate decision makers to do the same.
Your primary goal is to support and conduct outreach to bring issues of animal welfare to key decision makers at food companies and their business affiliates. Through research, data-management, and outreach, you will contribute to building relationships and advancing corporate commitments and policies on animal welfare. This position requires domestic and international travel, equivalent to 2 or more trips per year lasting 2–4 nights in duration.
We will be recording a webinar hosted by Liz Fergus, Sr. Corporate Relations Manager, US, Aimee Drugan, Sr. US Corporate Relations Lead, and Debbie Malenke, Sr. Corporate Relations Lead. The webinar recording will be available to watch here by August 13th.
