Remote Event Marketing Contractor - SoCal USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This is a remote contractor role, but its location-independence comes with a notable caveat: the entire campaign is hyper-focused on the Southern California market. Success depends on intimate knowledge of LA, the San Gabriel Valley, Orange County, and the Inland Empire — making this role most practical for someone either based in or deeply familiar with SoCal, even if the day-to-day work is done online.
Schedule flexibility: As a contract role with a fixed event date (January 16–17, 2027), the workload will ramp up significantly in the months leading to the event. Weekly KPI check-ins suggest some structured reporting cadence, but the role is otherwise largely self-directed — a plus for async workers in compatible US timezones (PT/MT).
Nomad practicality: While technically remote, this role's grassroots community outreach across Nextdoor, local Facebook groups, and regional Reddit communities requires you to convincingly engage as a local SoCal community member. A nomad traveling abroad may struggle with timezone alignment for real-time community engagement and cultural credibility in hyper-local forums.
- Best fit: US-based nomads who know SoCal or are willing to be US-timezone anchored (PT preferred)
- Visa note: US work authorization likely required given the US-only restriction
- No travel perks (coworking allowance, equipment stipend) are mentioned
If you want a truly location-flexible role, look for influencer marketing contracts without regional market restrictions.

About the Role
We are seeking a high-energy, results-obsessed Marketing Contractor to drive direct ticket sales for the Asian American Expo 2027, America's largest Lunar New Year celebration (7 massive halls, 1,400+ vendors, and hourly cash Red Envelope prize drops taking place January 16–17, 2027 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA). This is not a brand awareness or vanity metrics role. We are looking for a direct-response outreach strategist whose sole focus is converting Southern California local audiences into paying ticket holders through nano/micro-influencers and grassroots digital community channels.
Core Responsibilities
- Nano & Micro-Influencer Acquisition: Identify, pitch, and onboard local SoCal nano/micro-influencers (foodies, lifestyle, family, culture, and local deals) with active, hyper-local followings to promote the Asian American Expo.
- Grassroots Community Marketing: Actively seed promotional messaging, ticket offers, and event announcements across regional SoCal Facebook groups, local community forums, Nextdoor, Reddit, and cultural community boards.
- Direct-Response Campaign Execution: Focus messaging around high-converting hooks, specifically highlighting the event scale, food night market, and the "Luckiest Weekend of the Year" Red Envelope cash/prize drops.
- Weekly Conversion Tracking: Monitor link clicks, promo code redemptions, and ticket conversion rates, optimizing or sunsetting non-performing partnerships weekly.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Primary Metric: Total Event Ticket Sales & Revenue Generated (analyzed on a day-by-day snapshot compared to last year).
- Secondary Metric: Number of activated, high-converting local SoCal creators actively posting and driving trackable sales.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in direct-response marketing, affiliate management, event ticketing, or conversion-focused influencer outreach.
- SoCal Market Familiarity: Deep understanding of Southern California sub-markets, local food culture, Asian community networks, and regional interest groups (LA, SGV, Orange County, IE).
- Outreach Hustle: Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to quickly secure high-converting partnerships on lean timelines.
- Tools: Proficiency with Google Workspace, affiliate/promo tracking tools, Meta/Facebook group networking, and social outreach management.
