Senior Frontend Engineer at Coinbase - Remote USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as remote-first within the USA, which is a meaningful restriction for digital nomads. Coinbase explicitly states the position is US-based, so you must maintain US work authorization and, practically speaking, a US address. The job is not open to international candidates living abroad indefinitely.
Schedule flexibility: The role appears largely async-friendly for day-to-day work — no fixed hours are stated — but the quarterly "surges" (intense in-person sessions) require you to be available and able to travel within the US. Plan for 4 trips per year that could last several days each.
Nomad viability within the US: If you're a US citizen or permanent resident, you could feasibly live a slow-travel lifestyle within the US (e.g., rotating between cities like Austin, Miami, Denver) without violating employment terms. However, extended stays abroad would likely conflict with compliance requirements at a regulated crypto company like Coinbase.
Compensation context: At $186K–$219K USD annually (plus equity and bonus), your purchasing power is strong across most of the world — but since this is effectively a US-employment contract, you'd need to remain US tax-resident. The total comp package including equity at a major crypto firm could be substantially higher than the base.
- No coworking or travel stipend is explicitly mentioned beyond quarterly surges
- Not suitable for full-time international nomads without US legal residency
Headquarters: Remote - USA
