Remote BHI Specialist at CareLock - Work From Anywhere — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Remote but Geographically Anchored: While this role is listed as remote and open "Anywhere in the World," there are important caveats for digital nomads. The requirement to obtain a Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is a significant constraint — this is a state-specific background check administered by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which typically requires a US presence and possibly an Arizona connection to process.
HIPAA Compliance & Data Security: Working with protected health information (PHI) means you'll need a secure, private internet connection at all times. Public coworking spaces or shared accommodations with weak Wi-Fi may not meet HIPAA security standards. Nomads should budget for a VPN, dedicated hotspot, and ideally a private room setup.
Timezone Considerations: The posting doesn't specify required hours, but the company is headquartered in Arizona (MST/no daylight saving). Expect core hours around MST. From popular nomad hubs: Lisbon is +8 hours, Bangkok is +14 hours — making real-time collaboration very challenging from Asia or Europe.
- Best nomad locations: Latin American cities like Medellín (UTC-5) or Mexico City (UTC-6) align closely with Arizona time, making this a much more practical fit.
- Salary context: No salary listed, but US healthcare admin roles typically pay $15–$22/hour. Even the lower end covers comfortable living in Medellín (~$1,200/month) or Mexico City (~$1,500/month).
Overall, this role suits nomads in the Americas more than those in Europe or Asia, and US citizens will have the easiest path through the fingerprint clearance requirement.
