Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-Friendly Scope: This role is listed as "Anywhere in the World," making it fully remote and location-independent on paper. However, the job does not explicitly mention async-first culture — infrastructure roles often require on-call availability and rapid incident response, which can create implicit timezone constraints. If the team is based in Wrocław (CET/CEST), you should expect overlapping hours with Central European time, roughly 9:00–17:00 CET.

Timezone Considerations: Nomads in Lisbon (WET/WEST) would have only a 1-hour offset — an excellent fit. Bangkok (ICT, UTC+7) is 6 hours ahead, meaning morning standups could fall in early afternoon — manageable but requires discipline. Medellín (COT, UTC-5) is 6 hours behind CET, making a 9:00 CET sync call fall at 3:00 AM — potentially challenging without schedule flexibility.

Visa Considerations: Since this is a globally open remote role, digital nomad visa programs in countries like Portugal (D8 Visa), Spain (Digital Nomad Visa), or Georgia (Remotely from Georgia) could work well. EU citizenship holders have even more flexibility across DACH and Nordics.

Travel Perks: No explicit coworking stipend, equipment budget, or meetup allowance is mentioned. Negotiate these during the offer stage, as the compensation is described as flexible based on experience.

Headquarters: Wrocław, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland

At Base, our mission is to support entrepreneurs in conquering global e-commerce. We are one of the fastest-growing platforms in the industry — we have grown 15x in the last 3 years! We provide an all-in-one system for thousands of sellers, integrating them with Amazon, eBay, and Shopify.

But technology is not everything. In this team, we value engineering integrity and human decency. We are not looking for a "Ninja" or a "Rockstar". We are looking for a Partner we can trust.

Managing infrastructure that handles millions of requests is a high-trust role. That is why we are looking for someone with a strong moral backbone.

Your Tech Stack

We work on a solid, efficient stack. You need to know it inside and out:

  • Core: Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), Nginx (deep tuning and optimization), PHP-FPM
  • Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM)
  • Data: MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
  • Observability: Datadog, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana)
  • IaC: Terraform / Ansible

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage infrastructure access and permissions — meticulous care about who has access to servers and why
  • Implement stable AWS cloud service concepts that can withstand our dynamic growth
  • Maintain Unix/Linux servers — configuration, updates, and automation, with a full understanding of what is happening at the OS level
  • Respond to incidents based on deep log analysis (Datadog, Elastic) — performing Root Cause Analysis, not just restarting services
  • Support development teams to ensure continuous and smooth system operation

What We Expect

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a DevOps/SysAdmin role, including hands-on AWS experience
  • Strong cloud knowledge backed by experience in classic server administration (data center / physical server background is a plus)
  • Linux fluency — the terminal is your natural working environment
  • Ethics and accountability — a "Can Do" attitude combined with responsibility for the "keys to the kingdom"
  • Humility with technology — you know everyone makes mistakes, but you know how to fix them
  • 360-degree problem analysis — you look at every problem from the angles of security, performance, and long-term consequences
  • Cloud meets "bare metal" understanding — we work on AWS, but we want someone who understands the physical nature of servers
  • English at minimum B2 level (we work globally)

Nice to Have

  • AWS certifications
  • Practical knowledge of Terraform
  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka or Cloudflare
  • Interest in growing toward agentic DevOps (process automation)

What We Offer

  • An environment where mistakes are treated as lessons — if something goes wrong, we fix it together without blame
  • A team of reliable and helpful people — the best development program we can offer
  • Your work directly impacts the stability of thousands of sellers' businesses worldwide
  • Compensation commensurate with your knowledge and responsibility, plus a benefits package supporting health and development
