Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is an on-site, in-person position at a care home in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, England. There is no remote component — the Handyperson must be physically present to carry out maintenance tasks, safety checks, and repairs within the facility.

For digital nomads or location-independent workers, this job is not suitable. It requires a fixed daily presence, hands-on physical work, and is tied to a specific building and geographic location. Additionally, the employer explicitly states they cannot offer visa sponsorship, meaning only those with existing UK work authorization (e.g., UK citizens, settled/pre-settled status holders, or those with a valid work visa) can apply.

What to look for instead: If you're a traveling professional seeking UK-based remote or hybrid roles, consider searching for remote facilities management coordination, virtual property management, or remote maintenance scheduling roles — all of which can offer location flexibility while staying in the same sector.

  • No remote or async work possible
  • No visa sponsorship available
  • Requires enhanced DBS (criminal record) check
  • Fixed UK location: Berwick-upon-Tweed

A Little Bit About Us

Here at Wellburn, our lovely family run business operates a little differently to a lot of other businesses. We don't hire robots. We hire people. Everyone is different, and we love that. Our recruitment policy is as much to do with personality as it is about qualifications. We need you to fit in and be part of the team. Part of the family.

About the Role

The Handyperson is key to the welfare of our residents at Wellburn Care by ensuring high standards of general maintenance to the care home and surrounding areas. We are looking for a handyperson who is self-motivated and can prioritise their own workload with a good general knowledge of all aspects of maintenance including basic plumbing, joinery, and household electrical fittings.

Our Handyperson will have a keen eye to identify general maintenance work that is required to keep our homes safe and as comfortable as possible for the residents. You will be responsible for all minor repairs within the home as well as reporting defects, undertaking Health and Safety checks (training will be given) and maintaining the appropriate records.

Sounding good? We want to hear from you!
