Traveler-Friendly Insight

This is a one-year contract recruiter role focused on the APAC region, with a heavy emphasis on Australia. The nature of recruitment work — phone screens, video interviews, ATS management — is largely laptop-based, which aligns well with remote work. However, there are some important caveats for location-independent workers.

Timezone constraints are significant. Coordinating interviews across APAC (Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, India) means you'll need to be consistently available during AEST/AEDT business hours (UTC+10/+11). This limits your effective base to no more than a 3–4 hour time difference from Sydney — think Southeast Asia (Bali, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur) as practical options.

Visa considerations: If you're a non-Australian national already in the APAC region, Thailand's LTR visa or Malaysia's DE Rantau nomad visa could support this arrangement. Singapore's short-stay tourist visa may also work for shorter stints. Note that the job does not explicitly state it is fully remote — given the APAC hiring focus and Australia emphasis, being based in or near Australia (or an adjacent timezone) is strongly implied.

Salary context: The $55K–$75K USD annual range on a contract basis is modest. In Bangkok or Bali this affords a very comfortable lifestyle; in Sydney or Singapore it is below local market norms, which could be a factor if you're expected to be physically present.

  • Bangkok: $55K USD = extremely comfortable, ~3x average local professional salary
  • Bali: $55K USD = premium nomad lifestyle with significant savings potential
  • Sydney: $55K–$75K USD is below typical recruiter market rates
