Regional Sales Manager at Abbott - Remote UK Field — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as remote-based within the UK, but it is emphatically not suitable for digital nomads or location-independent workers. The position requires 75% travel across the North of England and Scotland, with a strong preference for candidates based in Sheffield, Leeds, or Manchester. Physical presence at NHS hospitals, clinics, and customer sites is central to the job.
Key constraints for travelers:
- UK residency is effectively required — the territory spans Birmingham to Scotland, demanding frequent in-person visits by car.
- There is no mention of async work culture; this is a field-based role with standard business hours aligned to UK healthcare settings.
- The role involves driving a company or personal car regularly, so a valid UK driving licence and physical presence are non-negotiable.
If you are a digital nomad hoping to leverage a UK work base, this role would severely restrict your mobility. You would need a stable UK address and reliable access to the M1/M62 motorway corridor. A UK work visa or right-to-work in the UK is essential — no digital nomad visa applies here. Instead, look for Abbott's purely remote clinical education or marketing roles if location flexibility is your priority.
