Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First, But Mexico-Anchored

This role is explicitly remote but restricted to Mexico-based candidates. If you're a digital nomad already living or planning to live in Mexico, this is a strong fit — but cross-border roaming to other countries isn't supported without changing your legal work base. Mexico's digital nomad visa ("Residente Temporal") allows you to live and work remotely for foreign companies for up to 4 years, which could suit this role well.

Schedule & Timezone Flexibility

Payroll is inherently deadline-driven — PILA filings, Nómina Electrónica submissions, and month-end close cycles create fixed-date obligations. This role is not fully async-friendly; you'll need to be available during Colombian and Mexican business hours (CT/ET overlap). Expect structured workdays around payroll cycles rather than fully flexible scheduling.

Travel Requirement

Only ~5% travel is anticipated — roughly 2-3 trips per year. This is very manageable and shouldn't disrupt a home-base lifestyle in Mexico City, Guadalajara, or Monterrey, all of which offer excellent coworking infrastructure.

  • Mexico City: Vibrant nomad scene, WeWork and many boutique coworking options, cost of living moderate for LATAM tech salaries.
  • Guadalajara: Lower cost, growing tech hub, good internet infrastructure.
  • Monterrey: Business-oriented, strong connectivity, slightly higher cost but premium lifestyle options.

No equipment stipend or coworking allowance is explicitly mentioned, so factor home-office costs into your setup planning.
