Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-first and contractor-friendly — this role is structured as a B2B contract (self-employed), which is a significant advantage for digital nomads. You're not an employee, meaning you can often operate from multiple countries depending on your tax residency setup, without triggering local employment law complications.

Timezone considerations: Surfer's team is concentrated in Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Poland). Sales calls and demos will almost certainly require European business hours availability (roughly CET/CEST, 9am–6pm). This limits how far you can roam westward — working from LATAM or Southeast Asia long-term would mean early-morning or late-night calls.

Best nomad bases for this role:

  • Lisbon, Portugal: WET/WEST timezone aligns perfectly. €1,800–2,500/mo cost of living leaves solid margin on $2,800–3,500 base + bonus. Portugal's D8 Digital Nomad Visa suits non-EU contractors.
  • Tbilisi, Georgia: GMT+4 is workable for European hours. Very low COL (~$1,000–1,500/mo). Georgia's 1-year residence permit is nomad-friendly for contractor income.
  • Warsaw or Kraków, Poland: Ideal timezone, Polish office available for in-person days, COL ~$1,500–2,000/mo.

Note: The outbound sales nature (phone calls, live demos) means this role has limited async flexibility — real-time availability during prospect business hours is non-negotiable.

We're a remote-first company, but if you ever crave some in-person energy, we've got a cozy office in Wrocław, Poland where the magic happens (and coffee never runs out ☕).

About the Role

We're looking for someone who's worked at a marketing/SEO agency and knows what it takes to close — someone who picks up the phone without thinking twice, and who hasn't been trained out of that instinct by years of "process."

On a day-to-day basis, you'll own the new-business side: working the leads that come your way, qualifying them, running discovery and demos, negotiating, and closing. You'll work closely with the Customer Success team, and get support from Marketing and RevOps. This role rewards initiative — the more you build and close, the more it shows, both in your results and in what you earn.

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Work both sides of the pipeline: reaching out to existing leads in our CRM (conference, meetup, webinar, and community signals plus records of past interest) while building a new pipeline from scratch through your own outbound prospecting.
  • Run multi-channel outreach on these leads across email, LinkedIn, and phone.
  • Build and continuously refine ICP-aligned contact lists covering both marketing/SEO agencies and in-house SEO/marketing teams at companies.
  • Qualify leads and run discovery calls, demos, and negotiations, owning the deal through to signed contract and payment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of B2B sales experience as an SDR/BDR/AE at a marketing/SEO agency or at a company selling into agencies.
  • Proven track record of closing deals end-to-end, including negotiation and contracting.
  • Familiarity with the SEO/content marketing space (content briefs, topical authority, SERPs).
  • No hesitation picking up the phone the moment a lead is worth chasing.
  • Motivated by closing deals, not just running a process — you know the satisfaction of seeing a deal through from first call to signed contract, and you want more of that.
  • Outreach experience across email, LinkedIn, and phone.
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales/outbound tools (we use HubSpot).
  • Strong written and verbal English (C1 or above).
  • Nice to have: experience selling a SaaS product (not a service); ABM (account-based marketing/sales) experience.

What We Offer:

We build the team around experts and stay out of their way. That starts with the basics: a monthly base of approximately $2,800–$3,500 USD paid via a B2B contract — the standard self-employed/contractor setup for our EU-based team — plus a bonus system.

We take care of the things that matter outside the work itself — your health, your rest, the setup that lets you work well, and the chance to sharpen your craft. Everything else follows from how we operate: trust over control, outcomes over hours.

Location and Remote Work:

We're a remote-first company, but if you ever crave some in-person energy, we've got a cozy office in Wrocław, Poland.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this role fully remote or do I need to be in Poland?
The role is remote-first — you can work from anywhere, though Surfer does have an office in Wrocław, Poland for those who want occasional in-person time. There is no requirement to be based in Poland.
What is the compensation structure for this Account Executive role?
The base pay is approximately $2,800–$3,500 USD per month, paid via a B2B (contractor) contract, plus a performance bonus tied to deals closed. There is no fixed salary as it uses the self-employed/contractor model standard in the EU.
Do I need prior SEO tool experience to apply?
You don't need to have used Surfer specifically, but familiarity with the SEO/content marketing space — concepts like content briefs, topical authority, and SERPs — is a firm requirement.
What does 'B2B contract' mean for employment status?
It means you would work as a self-employed contractor (freelancer) rather than a traditional employee. This is common in EU countries and means you invoice for your services, manage your own taxes, and do not receive standard employee benefits like employer-paid social security.
What CRM and tools does the sales team use?
Surfer's sales team uses HubSpot as their primary CRM, along with multi-channel outreach tools for email, LinkedIn, and phone outreach.
