Traveler-Friendly Insight

This part-time remote math teaching role at Think Academy is a solid option for digital nomads — but with meaningful schedule constraints to plan around. Classes run primarily on weekday evenings and weekends, which means you need to be available during US or Canadian evening hours (roughly 4–9 PM ET/PT). For nomads in Europe, that's late night; in Southeast Asia, that's early morning. Bangkok or Bali would be challenging without disrupting your sleep schedule.

However, if you base yourself in Latin America (e.g., Medellín or Mexico City), the time overlap is nearly perfect — their local evenings align directly with US East and Central time. Lisbon (WET/WEST) could work for weekend morning slots that correspond to US Saturday afternoons.

At USD $45/hr for 12–20 hrs/week, gross earnings range from roughly $2,160–$3,600/month. Consider:

  • Medellín, Colombia: Comfortable living from ~$1,200/month — strong surplus.
  • Lisbon, Portugal: Budget around $2,000–$2,500/month — tight but workable with a D8 Digital Nomad Visa.
  • Bangkok, Thailand: ~$1,000–$1,500/month living costs — timezone friction is the main challenge.

No specific equipment stipend or coworking allowance is mentioned. You'll need a stable internet connection and a quiet space for live sessions of up to 18 students. The semester commitment structure (3–5 months) makes slow-travel itineraries more practical than frequent country-hopping.
