Work is self-directed and location-flexible within India — you simply need to photograph printed or handwritten text in specific Indian languages wherever you find it.
Async-friendliness: This role is almost entirely asynchronous. There are no fixed hours or meeting requirements — you collect and submit photos at your own pace, making it ideal for travelers with unpredictable schedules.
Practical requirements for nomads:
- A pre-approved mobile device (check with TELUS Digital before assuming your phone qualifies)
- Reliable broadband internet for uploading Live Photos
- Legal right to work in India — tourist visas typically do not confer the right to earn income, so verify your visa status carefully
Earnings context: Compensation is per approved submission, with no stated fixed rate. This is best treated as supplemental income rather than a primary income stream. Given India's low cost of living — roughly $600–$900/month in cities like Bangalore, Pune, or Kochi — even modest per-photo earnings can stretch meaningfully for budget travelers.

TELUS Digital is seeking participants for a data collection study in India. Project Cassia is about collecting Live Photos of printed text and handwritten text on various materials and locations, in the following languages:
- Bangla
- Gujarati
- Kannada
- Malayalam
- Odia
- Punjabi
- Tamil
- Telugu
- Urdu
Task Requirements:
- Submitted data and the content within must meet the data requirements established in the instructions shared during the project.
- Collected data must be in Live Photo format, collected with a pre-approved mobile device.
- All text and materials submitted within Live Photos must be original and unique. No duplicate submissions will be accepted.
- No synthetic or AI-generated data will be accepted.
- To participate, you must be 18 years or older.
- You are legally allowed to work in India.
- You are able to understand instructions in English.
- Good camera skills required.
- Access to a computer, broadband internet, and relevant software.
- Independent work skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Compensation
- You will be compensated for correctly submitted Live Photos approved by quality review.
- The payment will be processed after the Live Photo has been approved by quality review.
- Payments will be issued via Hyperwallet through the AI Community Manager Platform, where participants can choose PayPal, bank transfer, or Venmo as the payment method.
