Junior SAP Developer at MANTECH – Fully Remote USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
US Citizenship Required — Not Suitable for Most Digital Nomads. This role is fully remote within the United States, but it comes with a critical constraint: you must be a US citizen and pass a Tier 2 Public Trust background investigation. This effectively limits the role to US residents and makes working from abroad impractical or prohibited, as government-cleared positions typically require you to remain on US soil.
Schedule & Async Flexibility: The posting does not specify fixed hours, which suggests some flexibility in daily scheduling. However, collaboration with a large federal government team (DeCA) likely implies core Eastern or Central time zone overlap. Fully async work is unlikely given the stakeholder coordination requirements.
Travel Component: Up to 10% travel is required — roughly 5 weeks per year — which could mean occasional on-site visits to government facilities. Plan accordingly if you prefer a fully sedentary remote setup.
Salary vs. Nomad Cost of Living: The $63,500–$105,900 range is generous against popular nomad hubs, but those locations are off-limits here:
- Lisbon: ~$2,500/mo comfortable living — salary would be excellent, but working from Portugal is not permitted.
- Bangkok / Medellín: Similarly, $63K+ USD would go far, but the citizenship and clearance requirements block these options.
If you are a US citizen who works from a home base domestically and takes domestic travel, this role offers solid remote flexibility within those bounds.
