Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is fully remote and part-time, which sounds nomad-friendly at first glance — but there's a critical constraint: it requires a valid Spanish convenio de prácticas (internship agreement) signed with a Spanish school, academy, or university. This means you must be enrolled in a Spanish educational institution, effectively limiting eligibility to students based in Spain.

That said, once the institutional requirement is met, the role itself is highly flexible. The team operates on a trust-based, flexible schedule with no fixed hours mentioned, suggesting a largely async-friendly culture. The company is English-first, reducing timezone communication friction for anyone working across European hours.

Practical location considerations:

  • As a Spain-based intern, you could work from co-working spaces in lower-cost Spanish cities like Valencia, Málaga, or Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) — all popular with remote workers and significantly cheaper than Madrid or Barcelona.
  • Short trips within the EU/Schengen zone should be feasible given the flexible schedule, though you'd need to remain reachable for client calls and design critiques.
  • The 200€ L&D budget is modest but could cover online courses or tools relevant to your nomadic toolkit.

Bottom line: this is not a visa-portable role for international nomads, but for Spain-based design students who want remote flexibility while studying, it offers genuine schedule freedom.

About Hubtype

Hubtype builds Visual AI Agents for WhatsApp: AI for the thinking, UI for the doing. Enterprise brands use our platform to automate customer service, sales and operations on the channel their customers already use every day, combining LLM agents with interactive interfaces, human handover and deep integration into their own systems.

We work with airlines, retail and luxury, insurance, telco and mobility brands across Europe and Latin America, including Wizz Air, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tendam, RACC and Verisure. We work closely with Meta's teams on new WhatsApp capabilities such as Coexistence and WhatsApp Calling.

The Role

We're looking for an Intern Product Designer to join our Design Chapter and help shape how companies automate customer support with AI agents and human agents working together.

This is a part-time, fully remote internship (Spain) for final-year students who can sign an internship agreement (convenio de prácticas) with their school, academy or university.

What You'll Do

  • Design features with a PM and engineers, from understanding the problem to shipping.
  • Prototype fast with AI tools (Claude, Figma Make or Code layers or similar) to explore ideas and test them early.
  • Use our design system in Figma and contribute to it.
  • Take part in user interviews, usability tests and client calls to learn what people really need.
  • Help us find repetitive work in our design process and automate it with AI.
  • Share your work openly in design critiques, ask for feedback and give it to others.

Requirements

  • Studies in Product Design, UX, Interaction Design, or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in studies that allow you to sign an internship agreement (convenio de prácticas).
  • A portfolio with school, side or bootcamp projects is fine, as long as it shows how you think.
  • AI first: AI is already part of how you work, from research and ideation to prototyping, writing or small bits of code.
  • Proficiency in Figma and understanding of design foundations: typography, color, layout, hierarchy.
  • Strong soft skills: curious, proactive, open to feedback, not afraid to take ownership of your successes and your mistakes.
  • Clear communicator, empathic with users, stakeholders and peers.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.

🌟 Bonus points if you're interested in conversational AI, have shipped something with AI prototyping or vibe-coding tools, or have worked with design systems or accessibility!

Benefits

  • Paid internship with mentorship from the Design Lead and senior designers in a supportive environment
  • Hands-on experience from day one, working on real projects across the whole product
  • The chance to do your final degree project (TFG) with us, if it aligns with your work here
  • The option of a longer internship, combining curricular and extracurricular hours
  • Fully remote policy and flexible schedule: we trust you to get the work done
  • A 200€ budget for Learning & Development
  • A multicultural, English-first team: amazing people from all over the world, with different cultures, experiences and knowledge

If you're excited about designing AI-driven experiences and growing your product design career in a friendly, forward-thinking team, apply now with your portfolio. We'd love to hear from you! 💬💜
