Traveler-Friendly Insight

US-Only Remote — Not Suitable for International Nomads. This role is restricted to applicants authorized to work in the United States, and federal contract requirements may additionally require U.S. citizenship and a security clearance. Digital nomads based outside the US cannot qualify, regardless of visa status.

Schedule & Async Flexibility: The posting highlights a remote, collaborative Agile environment, which typically involves some fixed ceremonies (sprint planning, standups). While no specific timezone is mandated, working with VA government stakeholders strongly implies alignment with US Eastern or Central business hours. This limits flexibility for those traveling to Asia or Europe.

Location-Independent Lifestyle Within the US: For US-based nomads, this is a strong opportunity. The fully remote setup means you can work from any state — think lower cost-of-living cities like Tulsa OK, Chattanooga TN, or Tucson AZ — while earning $150K–$180K annually, well above living costs in most US cities.

  • Tech & Education Stipend: Useful for co-working space memberships or upgrading equipment on the road.
  • Flexible PTO: Supports extended domestic travel between sprints.

Bottom line: great for US-based location-independent workers, but non-US nomads and those preferring international bases are ineligible due to federal contract restrictions.
