Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role has conflicting remote signals in the posting: it simultaneously states the position is "fully remote" (work anywhere in the US), follows a "hybrid structure," and also requires "onsite presence on campus 5 days a week." Prospective applicants should seek clarification from the hiring manager (Annie Rose Hill) before applying, as the actual flexibility is ambiguous.

Best-case scenario (hybrid/remote): If the hybrid or fully remote option applies to you, this is a US-only remote role. It is explicitly not eligible for visa sponsorship, and work must be performed within the United States — ruling out most digital nomad arrangements outside the country.

  • Lisbon, Portugal: Salary of $51K–$81K USD/year is comfortable by Lisbon standards (~$2,000–$2,500/mo cost of living), but you cannot legally work this role from Portugal on a tourist or nomad visa — it requires US work authorization.
  • Bangkok, Thailand: Similarly, working remotely from Thailand is not permitted under this posting's conditions — US-based employment only.
  • Within the US (e.g., Medellín-style low-cost cities): If truly remote-US, relocating to a lower cost-of-living US city (e.g., Tucson, AZ or Boise, ID) could stretch the $51K–$81K salary meaningfully.

Bottom line: this is not a nomad-friendly role. The no-sponsorship policy, US-only work requirement, and likely campus presence expectations make it unsuitable for location-independent workers outside the US. Look for roles explicitly advertising global remote or EMEA/APAC flexibility instead.
