Bioinformatics Scientist at Natera - Remote USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as Remote USA, meaning you must be based in the United States — international digital nomads or those residing outside the US are not eligible. However, for US-based remote workers who travel domestically or split time between locations, this position offers meaningful flexibility.
Timezone & Schedule Flexibility: The job description does not specify fixed working hours or mandatory core hours, which is a positive signal for async-friendly work. That said, collaboration with molecular biologists and cross-functional R&D teams typically implies some overlap with US business hours (likely PT or ET). Expect a semi-async environment rather than fully async.
Salary vs. Cost of Living (for US remote workers who travel):
- Lisbon, Portugal: Not applicable — role restricted to US residents.
- Austin, TX: $101K–$127K is comfortable; no state income tax is a bonus.
- Denver, CO: Solid purchasing power; mid-range cost of living makes this salary stretch well.
- Miami, FL: No state income tax; $101K–$127K covers a quality lifestyle with room to save.
Travel-Relevant Perks: Commuter benefits are listed, though less relevant for remote workers. No explicit mention of a home office stipend, coworking allowance, or team meetup budget. Free genetic testing for employees and families is a unique, health-focused perk worth noting. If work-from-anywhere within the US is a priority, clarify domestic travel policies during the interview.
