Remote APAC Tax Manager at Binance - Crypto Role — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Remote-Friendly, But Region-Anchored: Binance explicitly supports a work-from-home arrangement, and the job posting emphasizes the ability to "perform well independently in a remote set-up." However, the role's scope is squarely the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, meaning you'll need to work within APAC timezones — broadly UTC+5:30 to UTC+12. This significantly limits true location-independence if you prefer to base yourself in Europe or the Americas.
Timezone Constraints: Expect regular coordination with local tax authorities, external firms, and Binance's global tax team. Meetings with APAC tax bodies and internal stakeholders will require standard APAC business hours. Nomads based in Southeast Asia (Bangkok UTC+7, Singapore UTC+8, Bali UTC+8) would be perfectly positioned.
Best Nomad Base Options Within APAC:
- Chiang Mai, Thailand: Very low cost of living (~$1,500–$2,000/month comfortably), strong nomad infrastructure, Thailand LTR visa available for remote workers.
- Bali, Indonesia: Popular nomad hub, ~$1,800–$2,500/month; Indonesia's Digital Nomad Visa (Second Home Visa) is an option for longer stays.
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Mid-range cost (~$1,500–$2,200/month), excellent internet, Malaysia DE Rantau nomad pass available.
No travel-specific perks (coworking stipends, equipment budgets) are explicitly mentioned, so clarify these during the interview process.
