Remote SMB Account Executive at Samsara - US — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as remote within the US only, which significantly limits geographic freedom for international nomads. Candidates must reside in the United States, meaning working from abroad on a tourist or digital nomad visa in another country would conflict with employment terms.
That said, within the US, this role offers meaningful location flexibility. Sales roles with high-volume outbound calling typically require working during US business hours (likely 8am–6pm in your target territory's timezone), so expect timezone constraints tied to the continental US. Async work is minimal — outbound prospecting is inherently synchronous and live-phone-dependent.
For US-based nomads who travel domestically, this role is workable from any US city or state as long as you maintain stable internet and a quiet calling environment. Coworking spaces in cities like Austin, Denver, or Miami would support this well.
Salary vs. nomad cost of living (for reference only — must remain US-based):
- Low cost-of-living US cities (e.g., Tulsa, OK or Chattanooga, TN): OTE of $106k–$151k goes very far; modest lifestyle costs under $2,500/month.
- Mid-tier US cities (e.g., Austin, TX or Nashville, TN): Comfortable living on this salary with room to save.
The professional development stipend could cover tools or resources relevant to a mobile work setup. Overall, this is a US-anchored remote role, not suited for international location-independent lifestyles.
Who We Are
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, a platform that enables organizations dependent on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we help improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries — including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — are the infrastructure of our planet, and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.
Working at Samsara means you'll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you'll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the Role
This is a high-energy role in which you will bring the Internet of Things to small to medium-size customers, building Samsara's business and delivering the benefits of sensor data to customers. Typical sales range from $5k to $20k and typically involve proof of concepts, multiple stakeholders, multi-faceted pricing negotiations, and selling to owners, safety managers, and operational managers.
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.
You Should Apply If:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact — helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
- Your mantra is #alwaysbeprospecting: The world of operations is vast. Your customers are often out in the field and the best way to reach them is live on the phone. Samsara's top reps do constant research to find companies and contacts to expand their pipeline.
- You have innate curiosity in how businesses work: One day you'll meet with someone in waste management; the next you may be learning about the inner workings of a food distribution center. Our top sales team members seek to learn the ins and outs of the businesses they support in order to make a larger impact.
- You are a lifelong learner: Samsara sales are complex. You will need to learn about businesses where you previously had little knowledge. The payoff is big, but you have to be willing to put in the work.
- You build genuine relationships with your customers: The industries we serve have relied on pen-and-paper solutions for years and haven't been met with the type of technology we offer. Our customers value earned trust and human relationships built over time.
- You want to be with the best: Samsara's high-performance sales culture means you'll be surrounded by the best and challenged to go farther than you have before.
In This Role, You Will:
- Own customer engagements end-to-end, from prospecting and qualification to close.
- Generate pipeline through strategic outbound prospecting, as well as receive inbound leads from our account development team.
- Target accounts with 11–30 vehicles.
- Handle and own a transactional sales process with high-volume demands.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in a closing sales role
Ideal Candidate Has:
- Proven track record of consistent quota achievement
- Experience selling in the commercial space — small to medium deal sizes
- Experience with high-volume cold calling
- Experience in fast-paced, transactional sales
- Growth mindset and willingness to collaborate with teammates and in the selling process
- Salesforce (SFDC) familiarity
