SmallRig Universal Stabilizing Camera Top Handle — Better Grip for Moving Shots, Multiple Attachment Points for Your Whole Setup
The gist: A compact camera handle that improves stability during handheld shooting on location and gives you immediate mounting points for a mic or light without adding a full rig.
- Dual 1/4"-20 mounting bolts: 36mm-spaced mounting points secure it firmly to camera tops without wobble — critical when you’re moving between locations quickly.
- Top and rear cold shoe mounts: Two standard cold shoe slots let you attach an on-camera light and a microphone simultaneously, covering basic run-and-gun audio and lighting needs.
- Multiple thread standards: 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 holes in standard spacing plus Arri accessory mounts mean third-party follow focuses, monitors, or cages can bolt on directly.
- Improves handheld footage: Designed for moving shots where holding the camera body alone creates shake — the extended grip gives more leverage and reduces wrist fatigue over long shoots.
SmallRig’s product specifications confirm the 36mm dual-mount pattern, dual cold shoe placement, and Arri-standard accessory compatibility for this top handle.
Best for: Run-and-gun videographers and travel filmmakers who want basic rig capability without the weight and setup time of a full cage. Skip it if: you shoot static on a tripod only — the handle adds bulk with no benefit in that context. Runs ~$30 (Open Box) — check the current price before buying.
