Our Review
Peak Design Camera Cube V2, XSmall — The Minimalist Travel Camera Insert
The gist: A featherlight, weatherproof camera insert that slips into virtually any carry-on or daypack, keeping your mirrorless kit protected and instantly accessible on the road.
- Ultralight carry: Weighs just 150 g (5.3 oz) without dividers — 220 g (7.8 oz) with the full FlexFold set included — so it barely registers in a travel pack.
- Weatherproof construction: Recycled Bluesign-approved 160D nylon canvas with weatherproof seam taping and #8 Ultra Zips stands up to rain-soaked layovers and dusty overland routes.
- Compact dimensions: At 23 x 15 x 12 cm externally, it tucks neatly into a carry-on personal item alongside clothes, cables, and travel documents without hogging real estate.
- Flexible organization: Six configurable FlexFold dividers with C-clip attachment points let you dial in the layout for a body-plus-lens combo or split across multiple accessories.
According to Digital Camera World, the X-Small is a brand-new size introduced with the V2 generation and performs best with compact mirrorless setups, earning the insert a solid four out of five stars.
Best for: Frequent-flying content creators and digital nomads shooting with a compact mirrorless or APS-C system. Skip it if: The 10 cm internal depth (3.9 in) limits the cube to compact mirrorless or APS-C bodies with small lenses — full-frame DSLRs and larger zoom lenses will not fit, making this a niche insert for minimalist or backup-camera configurations.
