XF 16mm F1.4 R WR Lens

$1099.95

Fast and wide, the XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR is a 24mm-equivalent wide-angle lens designed specifically for FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras. Two aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements are featured in the optical design, and help to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. Both a Nano-GI coating and HT-EBC coating are also used to control ghosting and flare for enhanced contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Complementing the optics is a floating focus system that benefits autofocus speed and also maintains consistent performance throughout the focusing range. Additionally, the lens body is also weather-sealed to support working in trying environmental conditions.

Our Review

Fujifilm XF 16mm F1.4 R WR — The Wide-Angle Prime Every Serious Travel Photographer Wants

The gist: A fast 24mm-equivalent wide prime with f/1.4 aperture, nine-point weather sealing, and a remarkably close 15cm minimum focus — the go-to optic for landscape, architecture, and low-light travel photography on Fujifilm X.

  • f/1.4 wide open: Keeps street scenes, restaurant interiors, and golden-hour landscapes sharp without a tripod — a full two stops faster than f/2.8 zoom alternatives at the same focal length.
  • 15cm minimum focus distance: Unusually close for a wide prime — shoot dramatic foreground-to-background compositions, sharp food details, and tight architectural textures that a standard wide angle can't reach.
  • 9-point weather sealing, −10°C rated: Rain, humidity, and cold-weather destinations are all in bounds; the 67mm non-rotating filter thread takes graduated ND filters without fuss for landscape work.
  • Optically corrected geometry: 13 elements in 11 groups including two aspherical and two ED elements deliver critically sharp frames — distortion is corrected in glass, not software, for clean architecture shots.

Amateur Photographer called it "a spectacularly good performer giving impressively sharp images," noting that distortion is "practically invisible, achieved by purely optical correction rather than software correction."

Best for: Fujifilm X-mount travel photographers who prioritize fast aperture and corner sharpness for landscapes, architecture, and low-light documentary shooting. Skip it if: 375g is too heavy for your ultralight setup, or you need zoom range rather than a fixed 24mm perspective. Runs ~$1,099 — check the current price before buying.
