Travel + Remote Work Briefing — October 30, 2026
Today's three stories are about getting there, and what you can do on the way. Naples Airport goes dark for a month starting Sunday, easyJet finally commits to onboard Wi-Fi (just not yet), and a corner of the Arctic becomes a one-flight trip from Copenhagen. For remote workers, the common thread is planning around infrastructure instead of assuming it: check which airport you are really flying into, which aircraft you are really on, and which days a route really runs.
Is Naples Airport closed in November 2026?
Yes. Naples Airport is closed to all traffic for the whole of November 2026, with the operator's website giving the closure window as Nov. 1 to 30 for major runway rehabilitation works.
Euronews Travel reports the project involves renovating the runway and taxiways and replacing the visual aids lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lighting and illuminated signaling for aircraft guidance. Work is planned to run around the clock through the month.
Airlines are moving flights to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi and Cilento airport. Euronews lists domestic routes to Bergamo, Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Genoa, Turin and Trieste. International routes include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Casablanca, Dubai, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Paris, Sharm el-Sheikh and Stuttgart. It names Ryanair, easyJet and Vueling among carriers using alternative airports.
For getting between the two cities, Euronews says there will be added bus services between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Airport, and more rail services to Salerno station. Existing rail routes to Potenza, Eboli, Battipaglia and the Amalfi Coast continue. A trial shared-taxi service with fixed fares will link Salerno Airport with the central rail stations in both Naples and Salerno. The Naples airport site also carries a notice, dated Oct. 27, about new bus connections between Naples and Salerno Airport. We could not confirm every route or schedule on the operator's pages, so check your airline's notice before you travel.
Why it matters for remote workers and nomads: If you are based in Naples or the Amalfi Coast this month, treat Salerno as your airport, not a backup. A flight into Salerno followed by a bus or train transfer is a different workday than a short hop from Capodichino, so build a buffer around any call, deadline or client meeting that falls on a travel day. Check whether your airline has actually moved your flight, since Euronews describes the relocations as planned by airlines rather than guaranteed for every route. If your route is not on the Salerno list, rebooking through a different Italian hub, such as Rome or Milan, followed by rail may be the safer path. Keep any refund or rebooking confirmations in writing.
Can you work on an easyJet flight soon?
Yes, eventually: easyJet says it will install SpaceX's Starlink Wi-Fi on its Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, with installation starting in the first half of 2027 and finishing by early 2028, but it has not said what passengers will pay.
The deal marks the first time easyJet will offer onboard connectivity, according to Future Travel Experience. Passengers are expected to be able to stream, game and browse, check flight status through the easyJet app and website, and potentially order food and drinks from their seats. SpaceX's Gwynne Shotwell pitched the service as a way to work, stream or stay in touch from take-off to landing.
Pricing is the open question. Live and Let's Fly reports that easyJet described connectivity as an optional extra, said Starlink would manage access, and said pricing details would follow as equipped aircraft enter service. One Mile at a Time notes the announcement does not say the service will be free, and puts the airline's fleet at over 350 aircraft.
The move reverses the tone from earlier this year. Live and Let's Fly says CEO Kenton Jarvis said in January 2026, "The economics aren't quite working for us." The same report says Ryanair has no onboard internet today, and that Michael O'Leary told Reuters in January 2026 that Ryanair expected to offer free Wi-Fi within three to five years as technology improved.
Why it matters for remote workers and nomads: Nothing changes for your next few trips. Rollout runs from the first half of 2027 to early 2028, so you can't assume any given easyJet aircraft is equipped for a long while yet; our read is that the staggered schedule means a connected plane on one leg and a dark one on the next, so keep downloading what you need before boarding. "Optional extra" suggests a paid add-on, but easyJet hasn't said how much, so don't plan a billable video call at 35,000 feet until Wi-Fi rates are published. For nomads hopping between European bases, the realistic gain is likely light work such as email and messaging, not a full workday in the air.
Can you now fly straight to the Greenland Arctic?
Yes, with limits: Ilulissat, a town on Greenland's west coast about 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, now has an airport with a 2,200-meter runway built for larger aircraft, and a direct Copenhagen link that runs once a week in winter.
Euronews reports the airport has opened, calling it Greenland's third new airport since 2024, after Nuuk in November 2024 and Qaqortoq in April 2026. Greenland Airports CEO Jens Lauridsen said: "The opening is a historic milestone for Ilulissat, for North Greenland, and for all of Greenland."
Air Greenland says its official opening flight ran on Thursday, Oct. 29, using an A330neo named Tuukkaq. The winter schedule is thin: one direct Ilulissat-Copenhagen flight a week, on Wednesdays, with two weekly departures (Mondays and Wednesdays) during Christmas and New Year and from March 1 to 27, 2027. Until spring 2027, a Jettime Boeing 737-800 with 180 seats covers the route. On other days, travelers can reach Copenhagen via Nuuk with a connection.
Summer adds options. Euronews reports Icelandair plans seasonal Keflavik-Ilulissat flights from June 3 to Oct. 16, 2027, and says full operations are expected by the summer 2027 season. Air Greenland also lists same-day Copenhagen connections to Aasiaat, to Uummannaq and Qaarsut (from March 1), and to Upernavik, though some return trips from Upernavik require an overnight in Ilulissat. Greenland Airports had earlier said only that Ilulissat would open in October 2026.
Why it matters for remote workers and nomads: Greenland just became a one-flight trip from Copenhagen rather than a two-leg trip through Nuuk, but only on Wednesdays for most of the winter. If an Arctic stay is on your list, build your dates around that weekly departure and the 2027 summer schedule, and check current fares directly, since the sources we reviewed give no pricing. We also found nothing on internet speeds or accommodation capacity, so verify connectivity before committing to work from there. What to watch
- Whether Naples Airport reopens on schedule after Nov. 30, and whether airlines publish their Salerno timetables in full.
- When easyJet announces Wi-Fi pricing as its first equipped aircraft enter service in 2027, and whether Ryanair moves faster than its three-to-five-year horizon.
- How Greenland's 2027 summer schedule fills out, with Icelandair's seasonal Keflavik flights starting June 3.
