ChatGPT Can Now Search Your Hotel Points and Book Award Stays Directly

Travel loyalty data just got a direct line into ChatGPT. A new integration from travel-data company Gondola AI, reported by The Points Guy on August 21, lets ChatGPT users search real-time hotel award and paid availability, compare cash-versus-points redemption values, and generate booking links — all without leaving the chat window.

The tool works through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI apps like ChatGPT connect to outside data sources. Gondola's integration covers major hotel programs including Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, IHG One Rewards, and Wyndham Rewards, plus rental car loyalty programs from Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, and Alamo.

Once connected — via an OAuth link that users can revoke at any time — ChatGPT can pull a traveler's loyalty account details and use them to answer specific planning questions: is this rate a good deal based on historical pricing trends, would points or cash redemption stretch further for this stay, and what does this hotel actually offer in terms of amenities and reviews. The system can also set price alerts for specific hotels and dates, and it generates checkout links that book directly with the hotel or rental company, which preserves points-earning on the stay.

According to The Points Guy's review, the more loyalty accounts, travel history, and stated preferences a user connects, the more tailored the recommendations become — though the reviewer noted early answers aren't always accurate, and the assistant improves as it gets explicit feedback on what a traveler actually wants.

Gondola's own announcement confirms the tool is available directly in the ChatGPT app store — users can type "@Gondola" inside a conversation to pull live hotel, flight, and rental car rates and book without leaving the chat. The company describes a "portable travel profile" built from a user's loyalty accounts, past trips, and learned preferences, which carries forward across conversations to personalize recommendations. The same underlying engine also runs as an MCP server compatible with Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code, so the integration isn't exclusive to ChatGPT.

What this means for remote workers and nomads

For anyone booking travel on a recurring basis — a defining feature of remote work and long-term travel — this kind of integration removes a genuinely tedious step: manually checking five different loyalty portals to figure out whether points or cash makes more sense for a given stay. That math changes constantly, and most travelers don't have the time or patience to run it for every booking.

The bigger opportunity for remote workers is longer, flexible stays. Digital nomads often book multi-week or multi-month hotel stints, and price-alert features could catch rate drops or award-availability windows that would otherwise require obsessive manual monitoring. Being able to ask a single assistant "is this a good rate for a three-week stay in October" and get an answer grounded in real pricing history is a meaningfully different experience than scrolling comparison sites.

That said, the technology is early. It covers a specific set of major hotel and rental car chains — not the independent hotels, hostels, or co-living spaces many nomads actually use. And travelers should weigh how comfortable they are granting an AI tool OAuth access to their travel history and points balances before connecting it.

For remote workers who already lean on AI tools to plan and budget trips, this is a sign that the next wave of travel AI will be less about generic itinerary suggestions and more about acting directly on real account data — with actual bookings, not just recommendations, on the other end.
